Like the no upper cabinet look BUT aging people have a hard time bending way down to crawl into lower cabinets. A window over the sink is a must. Love the window backsplash but must have something pretty to look at while doing cleanup. No brick walls or neighbors.

What name brands would you recommend me researching for a vented hob for my new build? It will be located on my kitchen island. Gas or induction? Does the ceramic cooktop scratch? Does anyone make a cooktop that doesn’t scratch?

Never would i get a sink in the island. It looks nice but it’s a complete mess when washing up pots and pans. Leaving them out to dry and they pile up. Does not look nice at all.

Hi Michael, design question: This is a small galley kitchen. On the outside wall (161") we have the sink in front of the centered window. To the right is the 30" cooktop with hood concealed in a 30" cabinet and an 18" x 40"H wall cabinet against the right wall. To keep the look symetrical, our designer is recommending a 48"W x 40"H cabinet to the left of the sink with 2- 24" doors. I don't think it is a good idea to have doors that open out so far past the countertop. Would it be better to mirror the other side with an 18" and 30" cabinet? Would so appreciate your input. Thanks.

5:58 you can usually change the hinge to the other side, I have with my washer, dryer, and fridge. Don’t let your appliance doors limit your options!

Thanks for the video. We bought a house and for the last 5 years we thought rangehood was vented into roof space . Until we watched this video and realised it is a recirculated!! 😅 Point being, we have been quite happy with the performance of the recirculated one, even to the point we thought it was as good as extracted 😂

Hey Michael! Please help! We just purchased our first condo (in development) and I have 1 month to give the developers our final kitchen plans. Please help us with our final decision for our kitchen theme! Floors are grey marble and we’ll have gold accents (faucet, pendant lights, etc). And our top cabinets will be white (small kitchen, will help feel airy). Question is about the bottom cabinets under the countertop, should they be: - (a) bluish grey - for modern feel + match with gold, or - (b) oak wood color to make kitchen feel warm, homie feeling. Also fits with gold accents. Floors are grey marble ;) please help :)

Impressive, this one and the first kitchens-you-like video. They emphasize the graphical and technical WOW! that designers have delivered for customers. It would also be interesting to see the kitchens with people using them, living in them, touching things, since that's also what they are like for the people who live there. Simple without pump and use of horribly expensive materials ,that not everyone can afford ,but to have right design a must .Subscribed .

Here is the deciding thing for me. I often cook with two 12" pans. One 12" pan requires a $3500 dollar induction stove two require a $6,000 stove. A $1,300 stove supports only 9". Any $500 gas stove support two 12" pans.

Wonderful video. I agree with you about integrated appliances, but in North America panel-ready fridges all seem to start at 25K (except for one Ikea fridge that has iffy reviews). Any insider ideas about when integrated fridges might be available for the masses here?

Okay next can you please discuss splashbacks for an adjustable height workbench in an accessible kitchen? The splashback does go in before the bench, and it goes to the floor in case anything gets spilled and dribbles down the back of the bench - although the benchtop is deeper than usual to minimise this risk, and is built so it can be pulled away from the wall for cleaning if that sort of spill happens. The bit I'm unsure about is choosing a material for the back edge of the bench that won't scratch the splashback as one person lowers the bench to work from a wheelchair and the next person raises it to work standing up while being tall. I don't want scratches on my splashback!

The *only* thing cementitious grout does well is resist extreme heat. If you're not putting hot saucepans from the stove down directly on your splashback, you don't need cementitious grout. Go for something impermeable like epoxy and you'll be laughing at people talking about how hard it is to keep grout clean.

It never occurs to me that a IH hob can increase counter top space because it is not heat up when nothing on it! I am debating if I should get IH in my kitchen, but now I will definately go for IH hob. I am doing kitchen renovation now, and I learned so much by watching you videos.
